Nick Wakelin, London, UK

I started my musical life as a chorister in Rochester Cathedral Choir, under the musical direction of Barry Fergusson and was educated at King’s School, Rochester where I studied piano under Paul Hale and Roger Sayer and singing under Ben Odom.

At the age of fifteen, I joined the Kent Youth Choir and subsequently became a member of both the Kent Youth Chamber Choir and the Kent Youth Barbershop, where I began to make close harmony arrangements of modern songs.

After reading Music at Lancater University, where I studied singing with Mary Hitch, I moved to London and shortly afterwards joined the London Philharmonic Choir, the Vasari Singers and later the Bach Choir.

I now sing occasionally with Brentwood Cathedral Choir, Chelmsford Cathedral Choir and Vasari Singers and have recently resume my vocal studies with the delightfully talented Ann de Renais

Still tinkling the ivories I have recently taken on piano students and am teaching all the things I’ve been too lazy to put into practice myself!
